Supporting Organizations Through Thoughtful Guidance

We founded Stratford Advisory to provide a different kind of consulting experience—one built on collaboration, practical wisdom, and genuine partnership with the organizations we serve.

Our Story

Stratford Advisory emerged from a recognition that growing organizations often need guidance that goes beyond conventional consulting approaches. Our founders, having worked within mid-sized enterprises and consulting firms, noticed a gap between what organizations truly needed and what the consulting industry typically provided.

Traditional consulting often arrives with predetermined frameworks and standardized solutions. We take a different path. Each organization we work with has its own culture, history, and set of circumstances. Our role is to understand those specifics deeply, then help leadership teams chart a course that makes sense for their particular situation.

Based in Toronto, we serve organizations across Canada. Our client relationships typically begin with one engagement and evolve as we prove our value. Many of the organizations we work with return when new challenges arise, appreciating our familiarity with their context and our straightforward approach to complex business questions.

Our Mission

We help mid-sized enterprises and growing organizations navigate significant transitions with greater clarity and confidence. Whether addressing strategic direction, operational challenges, or leadership development, we bring an outside perspective grounded in practical experience.

Our Vision

We envision a consulting industry where partnerships replace transactions, where recommendations emerge from genuine understanding rather than recycled frameworks, and where consultants are measured by the lasting value they help create rather than the volume of reports they produce.

Our Values

Collaboration guides everything we do. We work alongside your teams rather than positioning ourselves as external experts imposing solutions. Transparency means honest conversations about both opportunities and challenges. Practicality ensures our recommendations account for real-world constraints. Respect for your organization's knowledge and experience shapes our approach—we're here to complement what you already know, not replace it.

What Informs Our Approach

After working with dozens of organizations across various industries, we've developed perspectives about what makes consulting engagements valuable versus what creates frustration. These insights shape how we structure our services and interact with clients.

First, organizations know themselves better than any external consultant can after a few weeks of interviews. Our role isn't to arrive with all the answers but to ask productive questions, bring relevant external perspectives, and help internal teams think through complex situations more clearly. The best recommendations emerge from this collaborative process rather than from consultants working in isolation.

Second, context matters enormously. A framework that worked brilliantly for one organization might fail in another with different culture, capabilities, or market position. We spend considerable time understanding your specific circumstances before suggesting any direction. This upfront investment in comprehension leads to more relevant and implementable recommendations.

Third, implementation determines whether consulting work creates value. We design our engagements with implementation in mind from the start, considering your organization's capacity for change and building internal capability throughout the process. Many of our clients successfully execute recommendations because they participated in developing them and understand the reasoning behind key decisions.

Fourth, measurement provides essential feedback. We establish clear success criteria at the beginning of each engagement and track progress against those metrics. This accountability keeps everyone focused on outcomes rather than activities and creates opportunities to adjust course when needed.

Our commitment extends beyond the formal engagement period. We've found that some of the most valuable conversations happen a few months after recommendations are implemented, when real-world results start emerging and new questions surface. Many clients return for follow-up sessions to discuss progress and refine their approach based on early results.

Working primarily with mid-sized enterprises gives us appreciation for the constraints these organizations face. Unlike large corporations with extensive internal resources, our clients need recommendations that can be executed with existing teams and budgets. We tailor our suggestions accordingly, focusing on high-impact changes that fit within realistic parameters.
